The base model of the turtle beach headset line is the XLa headset. There are certain features that are available with this headset to make it a very good economy option for your gaming. This turtle beach XLa review will outline some of the features that the headset has to give you an idea of how well it works.

The XLa is a step-up from the basic communicator headsets that only have a single earpiece and microphone and only allow you to chat.  This headset gives you sound for the game audio and also allows you to chat through the microphone. It has separate game and chat volume controls and the dual earpiece over the ear design blocks out environmental noise and distractions.  The bass is pretty awesome too.

Wired For Sound

This is a wired headset so you won’t have to worry about Wi-Fi interference and all of the problems that you will see when you have Wi-Fi connected in a wireless headset. The cable is a good size and usually comes 18 feet long. You may find that this causes the cable to get tangled at times. There is a Velcro strap to help alleviate this problem.

Audio is Top Quality

What really sold me on this set of headphones was the quality of the audio. You’ll be hard-pressed to find something else, at this price point, that delivers the kind of sound you get from this headset. While this headset only gives stereo sound. It really does pick up all the small noises in the game. You can hear noises coming from all around you. So if you’re tired of getting Rick rolled in Call of Duty and are ready to hear people sneaking up on you give this headset a try.

If you want true surround sound you’ll have to add a DSS2 surround sound amplifier. This will add a whole new level of realism to the game .  The DSS2 adds simulated surround sound.  Its not true surround sound but for the budget minded, this is entirely adequate.  You will find the separation works well and you will be able to respond to threats from behind and to the sides.

Share Your Space

If you are a parent, and are tired of hearing the constant gunfire and explosions emanating from your TV.  Putting one of these headsets under the tree will save your sanity.  Your gamer will appreciate the upgrade and you won’t be subjected to the constant noise.  This can be a relationship saver too, if your spouse is a gamer.  Isolate the noise with a XLa headset.  You can watch your shows or sleep and your Other Half can play to their hearts content without worrying about disturbing your slumber.
